Extending from 15th St. at about the 'Brooklyn city line to Coney Island with a toll gate at each extremity, this is now Coney Island Ave. It was often thronged of a fine afternoon in summer with every description of carriages & horses, and was rated as the drive where sporting men of twenty years ago (1860) were accostumed to exhibit the fine qualities of their thoroughbreds'. --Stockwell"
