292-314 Kent Avenue. The Havemeyer and Elder sugar company was based on the Williamsburg waterfront from 1865. This image shows the refinery after its reconstruction in 1892 following a fire. Havemeyer would later become the American Sugar Refining Company and the Domino Sugar Corporation.
