Avery, director of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, announdes happily the receipt of one of the handsome dwarf pine trees called 'Bonsai' which many Japanesse skippers keep in the salons and cabins of their vessels. ... The miniature evergreen--18 inches high and estimated by scientists to be about 75 years old--was donated to the Garden ... by Capt. A. Murai, master of the Panama Maru of the O. S. K. Line. The offering was made in the salon of the ship at the foot of Kent St."
